Coming Together for Community Building
On Aug. 29, we had the pleasure of participating in The Black Tech Collective’s (BTC) Networking and Marketplace Link at Hill Prince in Washington, D.C. In 2022, Emily Hawkins founded BTC to create supported spaces for Blacks in tech to gather, commune, and elevate; and advocate for equitable tech policy. Our own Tianna Christine currently serves on the board.

BTC hosts meetups and panel discussions in the DC-area and every August they bring tech professionals together to celebrate National Black Business Month. MQC was among 15 other local Black-owned business showcasing products that included a college-themed game, HBCU merch, incense, women’s clothing, athletic wear, candles, wealth management, paintings, gourmet pecans, and more. The evening was filled with networking opportunities and community building to uplift and support one another.
Featured businesses included:
- Candles with Attitude
- Pe•Candy Company
- PO’ Up! Card Game
- Reveal Wealth
- Self Handmade Incense
- and more!
This event was the perfect way to do our self-care card #52 Actively Support, which was our August melanin queen card pick. No matter how big or small, showing support strengthens our communities, builds pride, increases opportunities, makes us feel good.
We thank BTC for creating a space to uplift Black professionals and business owners.
